The valence of triticale published in DLG feeding Value Tables in comparison to other grains are being confirmed by regular tests of the crop of every year. For example, 829 samples of grain were examined by the Chamber of Agriculture in Lower Saxony from crop 2011 with the following results:
Raw protein: Triticale (11,2 %) on the level of wheat (11,2 %) , lower (as an exception) than barley (11,7 %), and distinctly better than rye (10,1 %).
Starch: Triticale (57,0 %) slightly below wheat (59,2 %), better than rye (51,4 %) and distinctly better than barley (49,6 %).
ME (Pigs) in MJ/kg: Triticale (13,8 %) on the level of wheat (13,8 %), better than rye (13,7 %) and distinctly better than barley (13,0 %).
Lysine: Triticale (0,37 %) on the level of barley (0,40 %), equl to rye (0,37 %) and higher than wheat (0,33 %).
Methionine and Cystine: Triticale and barley are equal (0,46 %), better than rye (0,39 %) and tightly below wheat (0,45 %).
